A psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation–so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? (NLT)

Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

The Lord is my light – He is to me the source of light. That is, He guides and leads me. Darkness is the emblem of distress, trouble, perplexity, and sorrow; light is the emblem of the opposite of these. God furnished him such light that these troubles disappeared, and his way was bright and happy.

And my salvation – That is, He saves or delivers me.

Whom shall I fear? – Compare Romans 8:31. If God is on our side, or is for us, we can have no apprehension of danger. He is abundantly able to protect us, and we may confidently trust in Him. No one needs any better security against the objects of fear or dread than the conviction that God is his friend.

The Lord is the strength of my life – The support of my life. Or, in other words, He keeps me alive. In itself life is feeble, and is easily crushed out by trouble and sorrow; but as long as God is its strength, there is nothing to fear.

Of whom shall I be afraid? – No one has power to take life away while He defends me. God is to those who put their trust in Him a stronghold or fortress, and they are safe.

  • Sunday – Jeremiah 3:15

PRESCRIBED SCRIPTURES FOR THE WEEK OF 9/10-9/16

  • Monday, September 10, 2012 – Psalm 71:14

But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. (NIV)

Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

But I will hope continually – I will always cherish hope; I will not give up to despair. I will trust in God whatever may be the number, the power, and the confidence of my enemies. None of these things shall make me despair, for as long as I have a God, I have every ground for hope. No man should despair who has God for his Friend. Compare Psalm 42:5, Psalm 42:11; Psalm 43:5.

And will yet praise thee more and more – literally, “I will add upon all thy praise.” That is, I will accumulate it; I will increase it. He saw abundant cause in the past for praising God; he had such confidence in him, and he felt such an assurance that he would interpose in his behalf, that he did not doubt that in the future dealings of God with him, he would have every reason to “add” to that praise.

A Psalm in My Heart: The Lord is My Helper

A PSALM IN MY HEART: THE LORD IS MY HELPER

Happy Tuesday morning!

I sometimes have dreams that come to pass. Other times I hear a word or see a vision. Today I awoke with a Psalm on my heart that I would like to share. A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple. How fitting considering we Temple Shapers have chosen to rededicate our temples! To devote our bodies and minds to the service and praise to God that He may be glorified.

Psalm 30:1-2

I will honor you highly, O Lord,
because you have pulled me out of the pit
and have not let my enemies rejoice over me.

O Lord my God,
I cried out to you for help,
and you healed me.

It is my prayer that these simple words will bless your socks off. It blessed me tremendously. See, this weekend I went through a rather rough time. So rough that all I had the energy to say was, “Lord, help me,” over and over again. This Psalm has given me confirmation that my help isn’t on the way, but my help is here! Your help is here!

You may often feel alone. That God doesn’t hear your cry. But trust me when I say that not only does the Lord hear your cry, but He is always with you and eagerly awaits the opportunity to step in and help you.

Matthew 28:20 confirms that Jesus is always with us, even to the ends of the world. That means that He will never leave your nor forsake you! Even when you feel as if you are in a dark place. Even when you feel as if you are at the end of your rope. He is there to help you. But you must hold on, trust, and believe.

I love you, but Jesus loves you more!

Today’s Prescribed Scripture: Ephesians 6:18

I Want to be: Just Like My Father

I Want to be: Just Like My Father

Happy Father’s Day! On this Father’s Day I thought it fitting to share a little about my father. Enjoy!

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:4-8)

Though I was raised by a very caring man who spoiled me rotten, my heart’s desire has always been to reunite with my birth father. Well, approximately 30 years and many tears later I received an e-mail from him. The separation of my father and I is a long story and was of no fault of his own. Even though my father had no alternative, he felt terribly guilty for not “being there.” Well, I had to let him know that he was here. Right here in my heart and I knew that at the appointed time, we would be together again.

Since the day we reconnected, we have resumed our roles as if we’ve never been apart. More shocking to me than learning that my father had been looking for me just as long and hard as I’d looked for him was talking to him and spending time with him and realizing that we are just alike. It’s funny, but my husband says that he understands me a lot better now. See, he knows my family very well and was always saying that I was so very different from them. Now, he laughs, shakes his head and says, “You are just like your father.”

I simply smile, because isn’t that what we really want? To be just like our Father. How loving and caring is the heavenly father to grant us our heart’s desire?

If you are a believer and your request is within God’s will and the bounds of Scripture, be confident that if you pray for the desires of your hearts, God will do it! Even after decades.

You Were Predestined!

You Were Predestined!

Those who really know me know that public speaking is not something that I look forward to. So what I share below is very personal to me. In another post I will share with you the exact words from a dream that I once had in which I was in heaven. And the Lord spoke these same words from the Book of Jeremiah to me.

Enjoy!

“Ah, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. – Jeremiah 1:6-7

You were predestined! And your inabilities and insecurities don’t hinder God’s plan for your life. He didn’t call you because you have potential. He called you because He has a plan for you. But He needs a willing vessel. The issue isn’t your calling, but rather your response to your calling. So be open. Be willing. Be responsive. Lay down your fears. Lay down your views. Lay down your doubts.

Take your eyes off people and TRUST and BELIEVE God! Rise up. Stand up. Man up. Woman up. And do what God has called you to do! Be faithful to God and you will walk in His deliverance. He will rescue you.
